Turkish Club Tables Official Bid for Richarlison as Tottenham Look to Balance Books

Tottenham's frantic summer recruitment drive has attracted interest from Turkish football's elite, with a Super Lig heavyweight tabling a formal offer for Richarlison.

The North London outfit scraped to safety last season, edging past Everton 1-0 on the final day to avoid the drop alongside West Ham, who finished just two points adrift. With no European football on the horizon, Spurs are determined to avoid another nerve-shredding battle for their Premier League status.

The spending spree has been eye-watering. Free agent signings in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Martin Dubravka arrived without fees, while Jan Paul van Hecke cost £52m from Brighton and Mateus Fernandes joined for £85m from West Ham. Newcastle's Sandro Tonali is the latest addition, heading to the capital to complete a £100m transfer after undergoing his medical.

Now comes the bill. Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoglu reports that one of the country's big hitters has made a concrete approach for Richarlison, the £60m signing from Everton in 2022 who has struggled to deliver the goods in a white shirt.

With only twelve months left on his contract, the Brazilian represents a potential source of funds—and an opportunity for Tottenham to trim the squad. Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy suggested last month that Richarlison could become expendable under new manager De Zerbi, particularly if a fresh striker arrives.

"I think he could be collateral damage," Murphy told Goal. "The fans haven't really warmed to him. He gives everything, but he hasn't got the quality Tottenham supporters expect from their number nine. I reckon a striker will definitely come through the door, and if that happens, Richarlison might well be heading out."

The search for attacking reinforcements remains active. Journalist Ben Jacobs has identified Chelsea's Liam Delap as a potential target, though the youngster is keen to fight for his place at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle and Everton are also monitoring Delap's situation, with his future likely to clarify once the loan market settles and Nico Jackson's status at Chelsea becomes clearer following his Bayern spell.
