Arsenal are making a move for Bournemouth's Junior Kroupi this summer, with Mikel Arteta and sporting director Andre Berta given the green light to pursue one marquee acquisition. The Gunners clinched their first Premier League crown in over two decades on Tuesday evening, a triumph sealed by Kroupi's clinical finish in a 1-1 stalemate with Manchester City.

The 19-year-old's curled strike into the top corner of Gianluigi Donnarumma's goal exemplified his burgeoning talent and served as a timely statement ahead of the transfer window. In that same moment, he etched his name into the record books, surpassing the teenage goal-scoring mark previously held by Robbie Fowler and Robbie Keane during their debut seasons.

The Guardian has now reported that the French teenager sits firmly in Arsenal's sights, with the club having "well advanced" plans to bolster their ranks. The Gunners possess the financial firepower to make a major signing comparable to their 2023 acquisition of Declan Rice, who arrived for a then-British record £105m.

Whilst Kroupi may not command a similar fee, the prospect of a bidding war looms large. Real Madrid and Chelsea have both cast their eye over the Bournemouth prospect, and such competition could push the South Coast club's £80m valuation considerably higher.

Arsenal's spending plans this summer are unlikely to match last year's £250m splurge, though co-chairs Stan and Josh Kroenke pledged in their programme notes ahead of the Burnley fixture that complacency would not set in once the season concludes.

Kroupi is being considered as a left-flank option and a potential central forward who could jostle with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyökeres for minutes. A new attacking addition remains Arteta's chief priority, with Gabriel Martinelli potentially available should an acceptable proposal arrive.

PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia represents the ultimate prize, though prying him from Ligue 1 appears a non-starter. Julián Alvarez commands "strong interest" but Atletico Madrid's asking price may prove prohibitive—until now, that is.

TEAMtalk has revealed a significant development in the Alvarez chase. Despite Atletico's valuation likely to exceed nine figures, the Spanish side appear willing to entertain player-plus-cash arrangements. Arsenal too have signalled openness to sweetening the deal with Gabriel Martinelli included as part of any proposal.

PSG had previously held pole position in the Alvarez race, but Arsenal have now inserted themselves firmly into contention as the summer window approaches.
