Carrick in contention for Manager of the Season after remarkable United turnaround

Michael Carrick's whirlwind spell at Manchester United has earned him a nomination for Premier League Manager of the Season, a remarkable achievement considering he only stepped into the Old Trafford hot seat in January.
The interim boss has overseen a transformation that's lifted United from seventh place into third, sealing Champions League qualification with an impressive ten victories from his 15 matches in charge. That run of results has evidently impressed Sir Jim Ratcliffe enough to hand Carrick the job permanently come summer.
Carrick faces stiff competition from Mikel Arteta, whose Arsenal side are mounting a serious title challenge, and Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager attempting to keep the Gunners at bay. Brentford's Keith Andrews has also made the cut after seamlessly stepping in for the departed Thomas Frank and steering the Bees towards European football.
Bournemouth's Andoni Iraola, who could yet depart with Champions League qualification as his parting gift, rounds out the shortlist alongside Regis Le Bris, who's guided newly-promoted Sunderland to a respectable mid-table position.
The Premier League will determine both the Manager and Player of the Season awards through a combination of public voting and expert panel assessment.
Arsenal's influence extends to the Player of the Season nominations, with three of their stars in contention: goalkeeper David Raya, who's claimed the Golden Glove, centre-back Gabriel Magalhães, and midfielder Declan Rice.
They're joined by Manchester City's Erling Haaland, the division's leading marksman with 26 goals to his name, and Antoine Semenyo, who's carried his Bournemouth form into the Etihad following his January switch.
Brentford's Igor Thiago, having netted 22 times this term, features alongside Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White. Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes, the current favourite for the award, rounds out the seven nominees with an impressive 19 assists to date.
