Chelsea Demand £90m for Garnacho as Napoli Circle; Private Valuation Paints Grimmer Picture

Chelsea have set their stall out on Alejandro Garnacho, demanding a hefty £90m to part with the winger this summer—though the gap between public posturing and private reality tells a rather different story.

Garnacho arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer for approximately £40m following a bust-up with Manchester United's then-manager Ruben Amorim. Blessed with undoubted talent, the Argentine has nonetheless courted controversy over his temperament and failed to make much of an impression during his first campaign in west London.

Used sparingly throughout a disappointing 2025/26 season, Garnacho managed just one Premier League goal across 24 appearances—hardly the return Chelsea had envisioned when sanctioning his move from Old Trafford. With the club missing out on European football, trimming the squad has become a priority, and Garnacho finds himself among four players the Blues are actively trying to shift.

Napoli have emerged as serious contenders for his signature, though their initial approach—a loan deal with a purchase option attached—has been rebuffed. Chelsea's official line demands a permanent transfer at their inflated £90m valuation. Behind closed doors, however, the picture becomes considerably murkier.

Sources suggest that an offer hovering around £60m (€70m, $81m) would present Chelsea with a genuine dilemma, forcing the hierarchy to make a meaningful decision. Interest is beginning to gather momentum, with Roma also sniffing around a potential loan arrangement.

The reality, though, is far less rosy. Given Garnacho's underwhelming return on the pitch, Chelsea would be fortunate to attract anything approaching £60m. A £30m valuation looks considerably more realistic, which means the Blues may eventually capitulate and sanction a loan exit if desperation mounts as the window wears on.

BBC reporter Nizaar Kinsella has confirmed that Chelsea remain opposed to temporary departures at present, with only a permanent sale under consideration.
