Manchester United Set to Pursue Bournemouth's Alex Scott in £80m Deal

Manchester United have resolved to pursue AFC Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott this summer after a frustrating few weeks in the transfer market left them scrambling for alternatives.

The Red Devils have already secured Ederson Silva from Atalanta for approximately £38m and remain keen to bolster their midfield options further. However, recent setbacks have forced their hand. The club missed out on Elliot Anderson, Matheus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali in quick succession, leaving their recruitment plans in need of a rethink.

Scott has emerged as a prime target in response. Analyst Fabrizio Romano recently outlined the situation, noting that United's two main alternatives following their recent disappointments were Aurélien Tchouaméni and Scott. Tchouaméni remains complicated, with salary concerns and no green light forthcoming from Real Madrid, making Scott an increasingly attractive proposition.

The Bournemouth star also catches the eye of Arsenal, but United appear ready to make their move. Bournemouth themselves are attempting to deter suitors by slapping an £80m price tag on their midfielder whilst attempting to persuade him to sign a fresh long-term contract.

Nevertheless, United's determination appears undimmed. Reports suggest the club intends to "push forward to complete" the deal, with Scott representing their preferred Premier League midfield target. His age is a significant factor in the club's thinking—at 22, he fits squarely within United's recruitment parameters of targeting players between 22 and 26 years old.

Bournemouth teammate Tyler Adams has also surfaced as a possible option, though United have made clear their preference lies with Scott. Adams, approaching 28, falls outside the age bracket the club is actively pursuing this summer.
