Manchester United are back on the trail of Borussia Dortmund's Julian Ryerson as they continue their summer recruitment drive, with INEOS now aware of exactly what it will take to prise the Norwegian from the Ruhr Valley.

The Red Devils are assembling a considerable shopping list ahead of the transfer window, with multiple positions in their crosshairs. They've already wrapped up Atalanta midfielder Ederson as their opening salvo, though sources suggest Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company are eyeing at least one—possibly two—additional midfielders, a left-winger, a full-back, and potentially a centre-back and striker if the budget stretches.

According to German outlet Bild, United have now "renewed contact" regarding Ryerson, the 28-year-old left-back who caught the eye during an astonishing World Cup performance. Stale Solbakken's Norway side pulled off one of the tournament's great shocks by dispatching Brazil 2-1 in the last-16, with Ryerson delivering what observers described as a "truly outstanding" display.

The defender will now face England in the quarter-finals, but it's his form that has landed him squarely on Michael Carrick's radar—alongside several other elite European outfits keen on his services.

However, United have been given their marching orders on valuation. Dortmund are holding firm at €30m (£26m) for their full-back, a figure that will need shifting before any deal can progress.

The Tchouameni Conundrum

Elsewhere, Aurelien Tchouameni remains the jewel in United's midfield crown, yet transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has outlined precisely why landing the Real Madrid man could prove a thorny proposition.

Romano outlined the obstacles during recent comments: Tchouameni sits atop a considerable salary at the Bernabéu, and United have already intimated to those in the player's circle that any switch to Old Trafford would necessitate a renegotiation of terms. That's hurdle number one.

The second barrier is Madrid themselves. United haven't yet received permission from Real Madrid to enter formal negotiations, with no indication from the Spanish capital that the door is open for discussion.

"Could he be the dream signing for Man Utd? For sure," Romano explained. "He is a player they like, they love, but the Tchouameni situation could be complicated because of the salary and what Real Madrid decide."
