Man Utd Circle Paraguayan Keeper Gill as Onana Heads Out on Loan

Manchester United are weighing up a move for Paraguay's World Cup goalkeeper Orlando Gill as they plot reinforcements between the sticks following Andre Onana's departure.
The Old Trafford outfit have confirmed Onana's loan switch to Trabzonspor, with the Turkish side covering the majority of his wages under a deal worth up to £1.3m in performance-based add-ons. The 26-year-old will return to United after a year away, with no buy option or obligation attached to the arrangement.
That departure has opened the door for fresh recruitment in goal, and Spanish reports indicate the Red Devils are now tracking Gill closely. The San Lorenzo stopper impressed during Paraguay's World Cup campaign before they bowed out at France's hands last week, and United believe he could provide the additional competition and dependability required.
United's summer business has centred primarily on midfield acquisitions, with an Atalanta deal for Ederson progressing. Moves for Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes fell through as the club resisted overspending, though a new left-back and left-winger remain high on the agenda. Centre-back and striker additions sit further down the priority list.
The goalkeeping position has barely featured in discussions until now, but with Onana heading out temporarily, United see an opportunity. Despite having Senne Lammens—signed last summer—already on the books, the club believes greater depth and reliability are essential given the scrutiny applied to every mistake at such a high-profile institution.
Gill occupies an intriguing middle ground for United's recruitment strategy. He is neither a veteran winding down his career nor an untested prospect. His World Cup exposure, coupled with his current level at San Lorenzo, positions him as the type of profile United might realistically pursue this window.
