Manchester United Table Five-Year Deal for Tchouameni as Real Madrid Open Door

Manchester United have tabled a substantial five-year contract proposal to Real Madrid's Aurélien Tchouameni, marking a fresh twist in their ongoing midfield recruitment drive this summer.
The move comes after the Red Devils had already secured Brazil international Ederson from Atalanta, with the transfer set to be completed once the World Cup concludes. However, United have faced frustration in the transfer market, watching potential targets slip away to rivals.
Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes both departed for Manchester City and Tottenham respectively, while Sandro Tonali's £100m switch to Spurs proved beyond United's budget constraints. The club's reluctance to overspend, steered by INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, left them watching from the sidelines as other Premier League sides moved decisively.
Transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano had previously identified Tchouameni and Bournemouth's Alex Scott as the club's primary internal targets. The Frenchman's salary demands and Madrid's initial stance represented significant obstacles, whilst Scott remained locked down at the Vitality Stadium despite interest from multiple quarters including Arsenal.
Real Madrid's position has now shifted, however. According to Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz, the La Liga champions have accepted United's offer of a "very good" five-year contract package. This development follows reports from Libertad Digital that Madrid had accepted significant bids from Premier League clubs—specifically naming United and Chelsea—for multiple players.
The Spanish outlet noted the surprise element of Madrid's acceptance, stating: "It is already known that the Premier League, through Manchester United and Chelsea, had submitted two significant offers for both players. What no one expected was that Real Madrid would decide to accept both offers."
Whether Tchouameni himself will embrace the opportunity to relocate to Old Trafford remains to be seen, though early indications suggest the terms on offer hold considerable appeal.
