Manchester United's recruitment team has turned its attention to Jobe Bellingham, the 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfielder and younger brother of England international Jude Bellingham, with internal discussions suggesting genuine interest in the prospect.

Having secured a top-five Premier League finish under interim boss Michael Carrick, United are set for Champions League football next season and are plotting an ambitious rebuild of their midfield ranks. Conversations regarding Carrick's long-term future in the dugout are also underway.

The club's co-owners INEOS are targeting at least two new midfielders for the summer window. Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Adam Wharton have long featured on United's radar, whilst Real Madrid's Federico Valverde has also caught the eye. Bellingham now joins that list of targets.

The midfielder moved to Dortmund from Sunderland in summer 2025 and remains contracted to the German outfit until 2030. After a challenging opening period in the Bundesliga, the England Under-21 international has flourished of late, starting 18 of the club's last 20 matches. His overall tally this season stands at 44 appearances and four assists.

Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City have all been monitoring Bellingham's development, though United's scouts have been particularly impressed. According to those close to the club's recruitment operation, the midfielder has become a regular topic of conversation among United's staff in recent months, with observers regarding him as one of the most exciting young talents in global football.

Yet there remains a significant obstacle. Bellingham has recently reaffirmed his commitment to Dortmund, expressing his desire to remain at the club. "I'm going to be here for a long time," he declared late last month, explaining how consistent football has allowed him to build confidence and understand his teammates' patterns of play. "You gain rhythm the more you play, and I feel like I've certainly been able to build confidence and more of a presence by playing more."
