Mourinho Set for Real Madrid Return with Three-Year Deal as Arsenal's Martinelli Eyed

Jose Mourinho's long-anticipated return to Real Madrid appears imminent, with the 63-year-old Benfica manager closing in on a three-year deal at the Bernabéu.
The Special One last managed the Spanish giants between 2010 and 2013, and a reunion has felt increasingly likely as Alvaro Arbeloa's tenure has unraveled. The current Real Madrid boss, who stepped into the role this year following Xabi Alonso's departure, has found himself unable to command the dressing room or deliver the silverware expected of the club. Two consecutive seasons without a trophy have left the hierarchy searching for answers, and Mourinho's proven ability to restore discipline and demand respect from elite players makes him an obvious target.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has been the architect of this move, and according to reports, Mourinho has already agreed terms in principle on a three-year contract. The formal announcement is anticipated following Benfica's final fixture of the season against Estoril on Sunday, with the Portuguese side still unbeaten in their domestic campaign but sitting third in the table.
Mourinho, who began his managerial journey at Benfica back in 2000, remains under contract with the club until summer 2027. However, no obstacles are expected in negotiating his release, with direct talks between Perez and the manager likely to smooth any complications.
Once installed at the Bernabéu, Mourinho faces an enormous reconstruction job. Among his immediate priorities is recruiting a new winger, and he has reportedly put forward Gabriel Martinelli as a "surprise" option. The Arsenal star would serve as an alternative to other targets including Michael Olise and Kenan Yildiz, though sources suggest Mourinho would relish the prospect of working with the Gunners' Brazilian winger.
