Redknapp Warns Spurs of Relegation Peril After Chelsea Defeat: 'They're Sleepwalking'

Tottenham's hopes of securing Premier League survival took a significant blow on Tuesday evening as Chelsea proved too slick at Stamford Bridge, winning 2-1 in a match that leaves Spurs' top-flight future hanging by a thread.

The north London outfit arrived knowing that a single point from their remaining pair of fixtures would guarantee safety, given West Ham's two-point deficit and significantly inferior goal difference. Yet the opportunity to confirm their status away from home has slipped through their fingers, leaving them desperately needing something from their final weekend assignment against Everton.

Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos had Chelsea cruising at 2-0 before Richarlison's late strike offered false hope. Spurs emerged with legitimate grievances over a missed penalty decision but, truthfully, offered little to suggest they warranted anything from the contest.

Jamie Redknapp has pulled no punches in his assessment of the situation. Speaking after the defeat, the former Liverpool midfielder described Tottenham as "sleepwalking towards relegation," pointing to a season-long pattern of underperformance at their own ground. Their home record, he insisted, has been dire throughout the campaign—devoid of both quality and the mental fortitude required to grind out victories when it matters most.

Redknapp highlighted that only a pair of fortunate results—victories over Wolves and a weakened Aston Villa side missing seven players—has kept the club afloat. Now, with Everton and David Moyes arriving in determined mood, Spurs face the unenviable task of finding a way to win at home. Redknapp admitted he'd considerably prefer facing Leeds at this juncture.

Yet despite the gloom, the Sky Sports pundit stopped short of writing Spurs off entirely. He suggested a draw remains possible, which might just prove sufficient. However, the damning statistic remains: Tottenham haven't won at home since December. Their away form, by contrast, has been their saving grace all season.

The cruel irony isn't lost on Redknapp, who posed a sobering question to supporters: imagine if Arsenal claim the title whilst their fiercest rivals are relegated to the Championship. For Tottenham fans, such a scenario would represent the ultimate humiliation.
