Marcus Rashford's future remains decidedly uncertain after Barcelona decided against making his loan move permanent, leaving the Manchester United forward searching for a new home this summer.

The expectation within the club is that Rashford will report back for pre-season after the World Cup, though both United and the player himself are keen to explore a permanent exit before then. Several Premier League outfits have been linked with the England international, and now Rio Ferdinand has thrown his weight behind one particular suitor.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand made a compelling case for Arsenal to strike a deal. "I'm taking Rashford," he declared. "For 40 million, I am sweeping Marcus Rashford off his feet."

David Seaman, another Arsenal legend, echoed similar sentiments, acknowledging Rashford's enduring quality while raising practical questions about squad balance. "I would like that move because I still think Marcus Rashford has got a lot to offer," Seaman noted. "He's still very dangerous when he's on it." However, Seaman questioned who Rashford would displace, pointing to the presence of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard. "If they sign Rashford, they're probably going to get rid of one of those two," he suggested.

Should United sell Rashford, they appear to have recruitment targets lined up. Journalist Tyrone Marshall has reported that the club would look to reinvest the proceeds in a left-winger, with West Ham's Crysencio Summerville and Everton's Iliman Ndiaye both on their radar.

Separately, Ferdinand has praised United's acquisition of Andrey Santos from Chelsea for approximately £50m. "I think there's a lot of growth, there's a lot of potential," Ferdinand explained. "I spoke to one of the guys behind the scenes at recruitment at Chelsea when he first went there and they were raving about him and the potential in the kid. He'll be a Brazil national team player for the next 10 years no doubts in my mind."

Ferdinand believes Santos represents the kind of measured, strategic investment United are now pursuing rather than lavishing their entire budget on a single marquee signing. "He's not the main midfielder at Chelsea but Man United I think have bought someone of the right profile for the club who's going to be one of two or three midfielders that they sign this year," Ferdinand added. "They're not going to go out and blow the whole budget on one big player if it doesn't sit right with the club in terms of the right budget for the club and that's where we're at right now."
