Sneijder Backs PSG to Thrash Arsenal in Champions League Final, Slams Semi-Final Tedium

Wesley Sneijder has weighed in on the Champions League final with a characteristically bold prediction, backing holders PSG to inflict a heavy defeat on Arsenal while refusing to completely rule out a defensive masterclass from Mikel Arteta's men.
Arsenal secured their place in the showpiece by eliminating Atletico Madrid across two semi-final legs, setting up a clash of contrasting approaches against the French champions. PSG's own route to the final proved far more compelling, having dismantled Bayern Munich in their last-four tie.
The Gunners arrive with genuine ambitions of completing a domestic and European double, yet Sneijder considers PSG the commanding favourites heading into the encounter. Speaking to Hard Rock Bet, the former Spurs star outlined a range of possible outcomes, with his headline prediction favouring a rout.
"If I have to say who I think will win, I'd say PSG. But Arsenal are not conceding goals easily. They have a very strong defence with the two central defenders with top quality," Sneijder explained.
The key weakness, according to Sneijder, lies in Arsenal's full-back contingent. "I don't believe the full-backs are the best players in the Champions League, and that's where PSG have power, especially on the left side," he noted.
Sneijder highlighted the potential absence of Justin Timber as a particular concern for Arsenal's cause, though he acknowledged Declan Rice's defensive flexibility as a potential mitigating factor. The Dutch pundit then laid out his scoreline speculation: "4-0 to PSG, or 1-0 to Arsenal."
Drawing parallels with Inter Milan's Champions League final performance last season, Sneijder suggested the contest could unfold in radically different ways. A PSG demolition remains his likeliest scenario, but he afforded Arsenal genuine credit should they achieve the unlikely.
"If Arsenal manage it and win 1-0, then it's a great job. But I believe it will be very hard not to concede against PSG," Sneijder said. "So, it can either be 3-0 or 4-0 to PSG, or 1-0 Arsenal."
Beyond his final prediction, Sneijder was scathing about the entertainment value of Arsenal's semi-final second leg against Atletico. At half-time of that fixture, he demanded action from above.
"I said after 35 minutes that UEFA needs to intervene," Sneijder declared. "They need to call London, 'just get off the pitch, both of you, and the final will be played tomorrow'. We knew this was going to happen. Atletico in a block, dropping back, and Arsenal having a lot of possession."
The contrast between that defensive slugfest and PSG's attacking display against Bayern underscored Sneijder's frustration with Arsenal's laboured progression.
